Mt. Wilson Loop Trail Run
The Mt. Wilson loop is a scenic 14 mile series of trails from Chantry Flat used by many as a long training run for trail marathons and ultras. Water is available at Sturtevant Camp and at the north end of the Mt. Wilson parking lot. The first half has about a 4000 ft climb with the toughest being the 3 miles from Sturtevant Camp to Mt. Wilson. As an alternative, some prefer to do an out and back using the Upper Winter Creek trail.
The David Trinkle Bench on Manzantia Ridge is a good spot to take a break, eat some trail food, empty out the rocks in your shoes and adjust your pack.
